Weddington Strings aka The Weddies, have been playing together in different combinations for over 20 years.
We’re all great friends and nothing makes us happier than performing together for music loving audiences!
The Weddies give lively and dynamic performances as quartets, trios duos,and soloists at weddings, events, festivals and concerts. You name it, we’ll play it!
We perform and arrange all kinds of music from Classical favourites to Jazz standards, Film & TV themes to Theatre & West End tunes and 70s Classics to the latest Chart Toppers.
Weddington Strings are Kent’s premiere string ensemble and are exclusive suppliers for Preston Court, Wilderness Weddings and Chapel House Estate.
We are also regular performers for Winters Barn, Old Kent Barn, Odo’s Barn, Hempstead House, Westenhanger Castle, Goodnestone Park, The Beacon House and Cooling Castle Barn.
And we have recently become Fever Candlelight Concert artists for Kent, with our first performances due to start in February 2024.
Our players are some of the UK’s leading professional musicians, performing throughout the UK and abroad.
We were all trained at some the world’s leading music conservatoires, including the Royal College of Music, Royal Northern College of Music, Royal Academy of Music and Trinity College of Music.
We have worked and recorded with some of the most prestigious orchestras and artists in the music scene, performed in West End Shows and recorded award winning scores for television and film.
Our members work includes performances with the BBC orchestras, LSO, English Chamber Orchestra, Philharmonia, RPO, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, CBSO, LPO, RLPO, RSNO, Academy of Ancient Music and Royal Opera House.
West End show appearances include Phantom of the Opera, Sunset Boulevade, The Lion King, The Sound of Music, The King and I & Guys & Dolls.
Performances and recordings include working alongside artists Paul McCartney, Robbie Williams, Lisa Stansfield, Nitin Sawnhey, Sam Smith, Kanye West, Professor Green, Jamie Cullum, Mary J Blige, Gnarls Barkley, Katie Melua, Emeli Sandé, The Pet Shop Boys, Girls Aloud, Travis, Elbow, Duffy, Bjork, Jools Holland and Beverley Knight.
Film scores include Call The Midwife, League of Gentlemen, Downton Abbey and Vanity Fair.
Tours include Les Miserables, War of the Worlds, Elaine Page and Cesare Cremonini.
As well as sharing the stage and studio with some of the world’s leading artists, our players have performed for audiences at Chelsea and Hampton Court Flower Shows, Buckingham Palace (Queen’s Golden Jubilee), Royal Ascot, Glastonbury Festival, Rugby World Cup & Champion’s League Finals, BBC Proms & BBC Electric Proms.
And most recently we’ve been seen on Channel Four’s A Very British Country House.
